Privacy policy

The Atlas collects little information about visitors. This page lists all of it. Last updated October 15, 2026.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you view. Google's use of this data is covered by Google's privacy policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Email signups

If you sign up for email, we store your address, the time you signed up, the page you signed up from and your country, as determined from your IP address. Your address, IP address and the page you signed up from are also sent to Buttondown, which sends the emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We don't sell or share your address with anyone else.

Your browser remembers when you dismiss the email signup prompt for 30 days, or when you complete the signup form, so it can stop showing the prompt. These preferences stay in your browser and do not contain your email address.

Hosting and fonts

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests and may keep short-lived logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details.
